A Big Deal
After introducing Barack Obama at the signing of the health care bill, Joe Biden wispered into his ear, "This is a big [deleted] deal." The comment was meant for the president's ears only, but the microphones caught it, and Biden's use of the impolite gerund became a big deal.
The ever fretful News Journal editorial board thinks Biden, who "is known for being able to put into words what most people are really thinking," was "a little too pithy" in this instance.
White House press secretary Robert Gibbs tweeted, "And yes Mr. Vice President, you're right..."
And in no time at all, Talking Points Memo reported that "This Is A Big F------g Deal" t-shirts were already for sale.
This blog has left expletives deleted since its inception, but in this case I think Biden was just pithy enough. This is a big deal.
