Squids
For those interested in all things squidish, Boing Boing highlighted a blog titled Squid, devoted to the mysterious creature. Here's a photo of a giant robot squid under construction (picked up from RobotDreams.com):A recent post took note of this iPod cover (naturally called CephaloPod) created by queenrobot:
The giant squid (genus Architeuthis) features the largest brain of any invertebrate. Its eyes are the size of basketballs. As large as they are, giant squids are remarkably elusive; the first photographs of Architeuthis in the wild were released last year.

I for one welcome our giant robot squid masters.
That squid made another involuntary contribution to science; it lost part of a tentacle to the camera boom.
My vote for most endearing ocean denizen goes to the blobfish (also on boingboing), which looks like a defurred Muppet...or a deflated waterlogged Jimmy Durante.
